Biggest,
Best Art Party of the Summer
is Saturday, June 17 – Don’t
Miss It!
Tulsa — With an interactive art room, the sounds
of local bands, and art by young talented Oklahoma artists,
Momentum Tulsa: Art Doesn’t Stand Still 2006 will
be the buzz this June. Organized by the Oklahoma Visual
Arts Coalition (OVAC), Momentum Tulsa is scheduled to open
8pm on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 100 East Brady, The Mathews
Warehouse building, Downtown Tulsa.
Installation,
performance, traditional and not-so-traditional 2-D and
3-D art, the scene will undoubtedly be filled with
energy. OVAC Executive Director Julia Kirt says of the
event, “You never know what you’ll find around
the corner at Momentum—new music, amazing art, digital
projections, poets and so much more. Viewers keep moving
and stay curious throughout the event.”
The curators are Joe Daun, artist and Chair of the Art
Department at the University of Central Oklahoma and E.K.
Joeng, artist and Studio Art instructor at Southwestern
State University. This exhibition is an opportunity for
young artists to have their work in the spotlight. More
than 100 artists from across the state are estimated to
enter, which means more than 150 works will be on display
for the event.
OVAC
expects 1500 as the event kicks off at 7 pm with a preview
party for major donors. A cash bar and Deep Fork
Grill hors d’oeuvres will be in place for this milder
side of the event.
The artwork from Momentum Tulsa will remain on display
and open to the public June 19-23 from 5-8 pm. Tickets
for opening night are $7 in advance and can be purchased
online at www.ovac-ok.org, by phone 405.232.6991 or $10
at the door.
